VERNON, CA - TOOLING DESIGN ENGINEER

Summary of Responsibilities
Working in a team to support Production operations and R&D Departments by providing complete tooling drawings for manufacturing from product drawings or design concepts to our in-house machine shop.

The Tooling Design Engineer will:
Manage projects with both internal and external deadlines and changing time constraints.
Effectively interact with all levels of personnel, from engineering to management.
Work with a cross-functional engineering team to develop tooling and bring into reality new and innovative product designs.
Ensure designs are state-of-the-art in terms of efficiency, performance, manufacture, and cost effectiveness.
Ensures all process and development issues are resolved prior to turning over to manufacturing tooling.
Support Operations by reviewing, recommending and troubleshooting forming issues related to production runs and R&D sample trails.
Revise and document all changes to existing and new product designs.
Take verbal/writing instructions and create new tooling designs for thermoformed plastic parts.
Competently use Pro/E 2001/WF2; Graphite and/or AutoCAD software.
Work with new tooling designs with Tool Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production and Machine Shop to ensure machine-ability and meets customer's requirements.
Some travel as required by the Company.

Qualifications
Skilled in thermoform tooling design, organization, managing priorities, communication and follow-up.
Proficient skills in Pro/E & WF2 and Graphite or similar 2D CAD software.
Skills in MS Excel, WORD and Microsoft Outlook.
Minimum 3 years experience in PETE thermoform tooling design.
Must posses a positive and creative aptitude in plastics tooling design.
Fluent in reading & writing English.
Bachelor or Associated Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent preferred.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

CNC MACHINIST

Summary of Responsibilities
Responsible for the CNC Machine that he / she is working on.

The CNC Machinist will:
Set up, program, and operate computer numerical controlled machines that automatically mill, punch, drill, broach or ream metal parts.
Make adjustments to adhere to establish specifications or to correct faulty programming.
Monitor work to ensure that machine is not malfunctioning.
Make general decisions about quality, tolerances and operation sequence.
Set up, operate machine tools, fit, and assemble parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tolls, or machines.
Determine dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprint, sketch, damaged part or description of part.
Plan and execute assignments using machine tools ranging from lathes to milling machines.
May operate computer console or computer controlled machine.
Utilizes precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work.
Perform repetitive milling operations on a production basis, such as slotting and straddling milling where close tolerances require exact setups.
Performs hand operations, such as filing, hand drilling, fitting, scraping, grinding, etc.
Set up and perform work on drill presses on a production basis where tolerances are controlled by tooling.
Other duties may be assigned.

Product Safety
It is the intent, objective and philosophy of PWP Industries to produce safe, legal and quality products. PWP Industries makes every effort to ensure product conformity at each manufacturing step while maintaining a safe production environment and a workforce superior for the thermoforming of food contact packaging products.

To ensure product safety, this position will:
Adhere to PWP’s GMP requirements
Make sure that maintenance activity does risk product safety. Report maintenance cleaning activity violations to their supervisor/manager
Make sure that cleaning activities are completed in their area according to the MCS and that cleaning is documented
Store mold room chemicals, cleaning products, etc. away from finished goods
Clean molds before releasing them to production to prevent product adulteration
Make certain that no glass is brought into the facility
Not use PWP containers for storing miscellaneous items
Practice good hygiene and not eat, drink (water in plastic bottles is allowed) or use tobacco except in designated areas

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess a high school diploma. Previous machine shop / CNC experience is required. He / She must also have previous machine shop training in mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties and layout and machining procedures. Must be able to read blueprints. He / She must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
